Chalets

Tzoumaz Verbier 4Vallees, as one might expect, is part of the Verbier ski network. Tzoumaz therefore offers the same extensive skiing as its more famous neighbour, but in more restrained, but equally sophisticated way, at a fraction of the price. Previously known as Mayens de Riddes, it has elected to reuse the historical name of La Tzoumaz. The ski resort itself is now modern, elegant and ideal for family ski holidays or adults looking to avoid the party crowds of Verbier, but still enjoy the world class Verbier ski network.

Skiing La Tzoumaz

Situated over the mountain from the Savoleyres ski area of Verbier, La Tzoumaz Gondola takes skiers straight into the Verbier ski network. Unlike some of the other satellite 4Vallees villages, access to and from Tzoumaz is a breeze, with a good choice of red or blue runs in and out. This makes it a firm favourite with family ski groups. Its slopes are also North facing which ensures good snow cover, typically, late into the season.

The Village

La Tzoumaz is a an ancient village that still retains its traditional Swiss charm, despite its increasing expansion over recent years. Strict Swiss planning laws, ensure new builds blend in with the valley and many are elegant and stylish, design led affairs.

The village centre has two bakeries, a supermarket, and a handful of bars and restaurants, and therefore entertainment is mainly around the fabulous chalets that adorn its slopes.

Family Skiing Verbier

If you are looking to ski the Verbier 4Vallees on a family ski holiday, and the children are not yet old enough to join the part crowd, we think Tzoumaz is the obvious choice as it offers outstanding value for money and great family ski slopes on its doorstep.

Expert and Off-Piste Skiing and Snowboarding

The little sister of its neighbour Verbier, and part of the same extensive ski region, the off-piste is therefore world class. Mont Fort and the famous Tortin are fabulous itinerary runs and whilst marked, are not controlled areas so should still be treated with appropriate respect and caution.

Eating Out On The Mountain

Virtually on the doorstep is La Malenaz which is situated above Savoleyres. Not easy however to access and best for competent ski abilities, via the Marlenaz run which should be properly evaluated before skiing. Alternatively it can be accessed by walking up the hill.

Ski Schools

Ecole Suisse de Ski are the main ski school operating in the village.
