Summer Activities to Add Adventure to Your Holiday

Got a taste for adventure?

Luckily for you, Morzine is home to a range of exciting summer activities to keep you entertained throughout your holiday.

You might think the Alps are only for winter sports. But, you’d be wrong! Here are just some of your options:

On the Beach

Fancy heading to a man-made beach nestled in the heart of the Alps?

This may seem like the weirdest activity to start with, as the words “beach” and “French Alps” may not seem to go together.

For a few selected dates, however, Morzine will transform its tourist office space into a fully functioning beach, equipped with inflatables, deckchairs and games that everyone can get involved in.

The best part about it? It’s all free!

In the Water

Apart from your regular beach activities, Morzine also offers a wide variety of water-based activities, ranging from various water sports to a full-blown waterpark.

Other ways to literally “jump in the deep end” are to get stuck in with activities such as scuba diving and snorkelling; don’t worry if you’re a beginner, lessons are on offer for those who have yet to take the plunge.

If you prefer to stay above water, then there’s plenty on offer. Jump in a boat and go kayaking, either as a team or a solo act.

Alternatively, take it a step further and go canyoning, where you’ll be thrown into the mountain streams with the natural river bed acting as your obstacle course. It’s intense, but refreshing, involving an array of abseil descents and natural water slides. Just make sure it’s a warm day, and you’re all set.

Want to take it even further? Try out hydro-speeding, where you’ll be given a large boat and dive right into the rapids, letting the waves take you at high speeds as you hold on for your life! Want something less intense? There are several lakes around the area where you can go fishing, and take in the beautiful surroundings while you do so.

Sports

Morzine offers a wide range of sports for any and every one to partake in.

Take up archery, improve your basketball skills at the multisport court at the Parc des Dereches or play tennis at one of the many hard and clay courts (free to use, with training and lessons on offer to those looking to sharpen their skills).

For the golfers out there, Les Gets houses an 18-hole course, with excellent facilities, and some of the best mountain views possible while you play. The entire golf complex is both welcoming and relaxing; there’s a restaurant (with a beautiful terrace area) and bar situated in the clubhouse to further enhance your experience.

As with everything else on offer in Morzine, lessons and equipment hire are all available.

Up the Mountains

For those in awe of the mountain views and looking to embrace that part of nature further, the gentle terrain of the Chablais region makes it the perfect area to traverse.

Make your way up the mountain by embarking on a rock climbing adventure, structured for both beginners and experts, with mountain guides and adventure companies on hand to assist and direct you.

Once you’ve traversed the terrain, go deeper into the mountains through an activity known as caving (or pot-holing) where you can explore the mountain caves and their tunnel systems, with a professional guide on hand and all the necessary safety equipment provided for you.

In the Air

If being on land isn’t your thing, Morzine has you covered.

Learn how to fly by embarking on a paragliding adventure, starting at the top of the Super Morzine lift and moving down to the Pleney. Schools for further training are also available for those who want to permanently overlook the beautiful scenes of Morzine from the clouds.
