Meribel ski chalets and holidays in the 3Vallees offers some of the best skiing in the world. Perfectly located in the heart of this extensive ski region, many of the catered ski chalets are just a short walk from the slopes and lifts, and for acres-ski lovers in the groups, the bars too. With its picturesque scenery, restaurants and amenities to match its skiing, Meribel really is a world class luxury ski resort.
Situated in the middle of the Three Valleys, Meribel is in the centre of the worlds largest high altitude ski network with over 600km of linked pistes, with fast high speed lift system. Beginners are well catered for with several nursery areas and slopes (the main two are Rond Point and Plattiere which is just above Meribel Mottaret), 31 green pistes across the Three Valleys and 152 blue runs. Intermediates have 119 reds and experts, notwithstanding some of the best off-piste in the world, 33 black pistes.
Some people would suggest that Meribel is better suited towards intermediates and experts rather than beginners We accept that a beginner won't ski may of its world class ski pistes, but it misses the fact that Meribel really is a great place to learn. Having conquered the nursery slopes, beginners rapidly progress on to the drag lift just above Meribelto practice and enjoy a gentle green piste. It is a nice long and confidence building piste that flows between the trees, back down to the drag. Because of it confidence building attributes, beginners soon progress then onto the blues.
Intermediates will love the sheer choice, from cruising blues, through to more challenging reds. As for experts, blacks are step up from some other ski resorts, but this what makes Meribel in the Three Valleys such a great ski resort. Moguls, some steep, others a little less intense, you really can take your pick depending how you feel day by day.
Mixed ability groups will also appreciate the fact that due to the sheer vast array of funs, in most cases you can share lifts whilst some ski for example a blue, others a red, and meet at the next lift at the bottom.
From a skiing holiday perspective, their are two main choices in terms of Meribel ski resorts, Meribel Mottaret and Meribel 1450. Meribel Mottaret is the higher ski resort at 1,750m, but smaller of the two although it is rapidly developed over recent years and has the slightly better access to Val Thorens and Courchevel slopes. Meribel 1,450m is the main village and also has the livelier nightlife out of the two. Whichever you choose, we don't think you will be disappointed.
One of the largest ski regions in the world, it also has an extensive range of off-piste to explore. One of the favourites, best undertaken with a guide, is the Cairn that is located from the Plattieres Gondola. The start of this couloir is narrow and steep and not for the faint hearted, although it widens and flattens out later.
Situated in the middle of the Three Valleys, Meribel offers a great location to access the expansive network that includes 325 pistes, 600km long.
