Skiing MegeveMegeve offers over 300kms of pistes in a beautiful setting that benefits from stunning views of the Mont Blanc. The St Tropez of the French Alps, its pistes are beautifully prepared as well as wide and complimenting. Many of the runs are amongst the trees and it seems to enjoy a vast array off sunshine too. As such the skiing is best suited for beginners, intermediates and families. Experts may find the skiing limited although there are some challenging runs off Mount Joliet both on and off the piste.
MegeveThe French version of St Moritz, Megeve is loved by the wealthy Parisians for its charm and sophisticated class, particularly in its pedestrian town centre which is full of charm and fine dining restaurants. The chalets however can be a little spread out across the valley floor, but most provide a driver service.
Most chalets are designed in wood and traditional in appearance however and this creates a warm alpine feel. Attracting many wealth Parisians and growing number of wealthy guests from further afield, its streets are lined with boutique designer shops, stylish bars and several beauty salons.
Family Ski HolidaysMegeve is an excellent family ski resort with its flattering pistes (mostly blue and red), wide greens close to the village, and family friendly atmosphere. Set amongst trees and wonderful mountain restaurants, Megeve is probably the most popular ski resort in the alps with French families.
Expert and Off-Piste Skiing and Snowboarding
Limited, but there is plenty of tree line skiing and some good steep powder to be found off Mont Jolio Megeve Mountain Restaurants Some of the best in the Alps although some you should pre-book well in advance, particularly in February when the French take their holidays as dining out lunchtime is virtually an institution for Megeve’s visitors.
Snow Parks Ski SchoolsThe main ski school in Megeve is ESF Après-Ski A very French ski resort, the après-ski is limited and mainly focuses around the 540 Café and terrace at the bottom of the slopes.
Megeve Michelin Star Restaurants
Top of the list in terms of gastronomic delight and Michelin Stars is the Flocon de Sel with three Michelin Stars. Megeve has two Michelin Star restaurants with one star. Le Table de l’Alpaga is situated on the Allee du Marmousets, a little out from the centre as you head towards Flumet, but this said is situated in a stunning hamlet that presents an idyllic picture in winter. Le 1920 is the 2nd Michelin Star restaurant in Megeve and is situated just above the main centre close to the main Megeve lift stations.
