Skiing Gerlos

Gerlos is situated in the Zillertal Alps in Austria and part of the linked Zillertal ski network with ski chalets dotted around its alpine meadows. Sandwiched between the Tyrolean Mountains and Salzburgerland, it is one of the most picturesque mountain landscapes in the Austrian Alps.

Gerlos in the Tirol Austria

With 139km of ski pistes in the Zillertal Ski Arena, ranging between an altitude of 1,300m and 2,500m there s plenty to ski without being too large. Experts will find it a little limiting but beginners and especially intermediates will love the extensive, but not overly challenging red pistes.

The Town

Gerlos is the quintessential Austrian ski village. Quaint and full of character, entertainment is predominantly its beauty, rather than bars and restaurants. This said, there are one or two bars in the village as well as hotels and a couple of restaurants. That you can both eat and drink in.

Made up of old pensions, farmhouses, and select ski chalets, it has all the charm you expect from an Austrian ski resort.

Family Skiing Gerlos

Gerlos is made for family ski holidays with a mix of mainly red and blue runs, and relatively easing skiing generally, with stunning views and scenery that really make it an unforgettable experience. Very family orientated, families will find an exceptionally warm welcome from your hosts in the pensions and family run ski chalets.

Eating Out On The Mountain

Whilst not fine dining, the Rössl Alm provides a warm welcome and some good Austrian meals. Rosi's Schnitzelhuett is also popular for its Schnitzel although it should be noted ithat whilst what it does is good, it t is fairly simple dining.

Gerlos Restaurants

Gerlos Snow Parks

At the top of the Vorkogel-Lift you will also find the Boarders Playground Snowpark to keep both free-skiers and snowboarders entertained.

Ski Schools

The main ski school are Adventure Snowsportschool.

Gerlos Après-Ski

Apres ski revolves around a quiet drink in the restaurants and bars. All provide a warm welcome and the hot chocolates are a speciality before returning home to your ski chalet!

Gerlos Restaurants

Being a small Austrian ski resort the choices are limited. The Milchbar offers a nice welcome and a warm décor with reasonable dining. If you are eating out with the family the children will love the Kaiserschmarn pancake. The Jagerstuberl provides a varied selection and whilst not outstanding, it does serve reasonable food. For pizza fiends there is La Tombola.

Getting Around The Valley

A small village, whilst a free bus service is available, it won’t be needed. Gerlos is a ski village where it’s a step back in time, a chance to kick back and just ski and marvel at the views and just stroll through the village.
